Saturday’s Selections

Highland Colori attempts to continue his strong upward curve and he should go close to taking another valuable handicap

Doncaster

3:50 Lindsey Close Building Services Handicap

HIGHLAND COLORI is up 3lb from his success last week at Newmarket but considering that was a really good race and also that he got a pretty bad run too and still won suggests a 3lb won’t be enough to see him go very close again if all fired up. His price is fair but I can see him taking this. Go Dutch beat a solid yardstick last time but this requires more but this race lacks a lot of horses that are in form and faster conditions will be needed for something to bounce back. Mont Ras doesn’t strike as being too well treated now back down to 7f. Any money around for the rest will be significant. Corporal Maddox and Sir Reginald are worth keeping an eye on while on best form Balty Boys and Mr David are very well handicapped. Dubai Dynamo and Diescentric have place claims.

Advice – Highland Colori 3pts win @9/2 BetVictor

5:00 Park Hill Hospital Handicap

A long straight a strong galloping track should see the best of STOCK HILL FAIR again who won nicely are Yarmouth last time albeit in an average race. Saying that the third and fourth since won their next two races and he has more to come off 6lb higher. Gassin Golf is interesting for connections who must always be respected in these races and similar can be said for another 3yo Maastricht. The step down 1m6f may not suit Kleitomachos while Getabuzz returns to the same course that saw him win his penultimate start. Daring Indian, Art Scholar and Four Nationa are others who are hard to dismiss.

Chester

3:35 Foz Electrical Handicap

An interesting handicap where three of the first four from Goodwood return, including progressive winner Stirring Ballad who is still not badly treated after a 7lb rise. Arnold Lane chased that one home and already has good from round here when beating Gabrial back in May. But SHAMAAL NIBRAS is the one to be with considering he was badly drawn in that race and finished off nicely for 4th. He’s drawn better here and he can go nicely. Lady Macduff should make a strong bid from the front too and on paper it looks a handicap that should work out well with other interesting sorts like Trail Blaze and the potentially very well treated Gatepost

Advice – Shamaal Nibras 2pts win @5/1 Bet365

Newbury

2:30 Betfred “The Bonus King” Geoffrey Freer Stakes

A really good race even with only 7 runners. Mount Athos has been very progressive and absolutely demolished a good handicap field off 108 at York last time. Conditions are ideal if they stay as they are and he should go well even with a step up in class. Brown Panther comes off the back of a huge run in the King George and must go well but the horse that beat him in the St Leger last year, MASKED MARVEL, has been waiting for fast ground over this trip and he finally gets it. He’s also a far bigger price than the Dascombe horse. On his day he has the best form in the book and that must be respected. Harris Tweed should set the fractions and he has already shown he can do it at this course but he does have a poor run last time to overcome.  Arrigo is hard to work out while Modun isn’t showing too much of late and Dartford will be hopelessly outclassed but seems likely to make this a proper stamina test which would suit his stablemate Masked Marvel.

Advice – Masked Marvel 3.5pts win @5/1 Boylesports

3:05 Betfred Hungerford Stakes

An on form STRONG SUIT will not be beaten here and although his form figures don’t give you too much confidence, he once again ran a shocker against Frankel on his reappearance and hated the ground at Newmarket in the July Cup even though Richard Hughes reported he travelled like a dream. 7f seems his ideal trip and with ground finally in his favour, he should have enough to overcome Soul who has been in good form but is more of a 6f horse. The consistent Libranno has place claims and Edinburgh Knight isn’t too far behind him on that. Pastoral Player and Majestic Myles are also of a very similar level and that will most probably mean they will all come up short against genuine classy performers like the first two are. Alanza has a sneak of being overpriced but this race should be about the Hannon colt.

Advice – No Single Selection

Advice – Masked Marvel/Strong Suit/Highland Colori 1pt win treble @98/1 generally
